Advanced Leadership: Peer Mediation

As part of an evolving restorative justice program at New Urban High School, we offer Peer Mediation as a way to de-escalate and solve conflicts. Mediators are highly trained in conflict styles, confidentiality, thinking errors, active listening, and the process of running a mediation.  Mediators have designed and created a safe, welcoming environment for other students to come together and solve conflicts collaboratively, creating win-win situations.  Mediators offer 1:1 active listening support, academic tutoring, and mediations between students, and students and staff. Students may request a mediation from Admin, or seek out Ms. Mercier in room 290.
